Jaguars are an icon of conservation in South America and as large bodied predators are particularly sensitive to habitat fragmentation. Efforts to secure corridors are vital to the survival of these cats as well as species worldwide. Conservation strategies like the Jaguar Corridor Initiative may provide crucial support to threatened ecosystems, but greater public awareness and understanding are urgently needed.
